PINCHED NERVE PAIN

Many patient's come to us with a variety of aches and pains. Many of them will state that they feel they have what is commonly called a "pinched nerve". Although they may be correct, it is very common for patient's to not know what a pinched nerve actually is. So, when they come in they commonly have been taking medication which has not provided any last relief or benfit. The reason is because medication does not "un-pinch" the nerve. Therefore, all it does is cover up the pain, not actually treat the cause. A pinched nerve can a have a variety of symptoms. Burning, aching, tingling, bruising feeling or numbness sensations that are in the muscles are common symptoms. There are many different types and causes of nerve pain in which Doctors of Chiropractic are trained in evaluating and treating pain associated with a pinched nerve. As chiropractors, we specialize in treating "nerve" problems so rest assured, you are in the right place to relieve your pain.

How do we know if you have a pinched nerve? Our Chiropractic doctors will first determine the cause of your nerve pain by obtaining an health history and by performing an orthopedic spinal physical exam. There will also be orthopedic and neurologic testing done to determine what nerve is affected. Our doctors then may suggest taking digital x-rays in our office. The x-rays can help us determine where the exact problem is. Once the area is determined, ouor doctors will decide what the best treatment will be for you to relieve the nerve pressure non-surgically!

All symptoms related to nerve pain are due to pressure from the tissues (bones, discs, and muscles) that are impinging the nerve. Chiropractic adjustments realign the spine and relieve the pressure on the nerve thus eliminating the pain and correcting the problem. Acupuncture uses tiny needles to stimulate the tissues to relax and reduce the inflammation in the tissues. Even the most severe nerve pain can be treated with one of these simple treatment options. Ice may also be prescribed to reduce inflammation and swelling to the area to help resolve the irritation in the surrounding tissues.
